Crackle defies all preconceptions and makes a glassblower's nightmare – cracked glass – its raison d'être. Here it's used to give the object beauty and character.
The mold is dug out of clay by hand and the cracked surface is formed using an ancient technique where the hot glass is dipped in ice cold water. The result is a series of objects whose expression changes depending on perspective and distance, reminiscent of sculptures made of colored ice.
Crackle by Kosta Boda was launched in 2020 and consists of vases and a bowl, all mouth-blown in Kosta.

The Moss collection from Kosta Boda is created from reused old molds from Kosta Glasbruk that are carved by hand to bring out a unique, undulating and lively surface in the glass. The bowl is now made in clear glass and gives a dimension of life where you can place fruit and berries or even as a punch bowl where champagne can bubble up. Made in Kosta with design by Åsa Jungnelius and was initially produced in collaboration with Gothenburg Opera's 30th anniversary.
